These papers begin shortly before Walker's commission to make an extensive study of the Hebrides, and continue through his appointment in 1779 to the chair of Natural History at Edinburgh, and conclude with his death.

Correspondence and Loose Papers consists of:

  • Correspondence arranged chronologically from 1762 to 1804, papers concerning the Natural History Museum, papers relating to the Agricultural Society of Edinburgh, a printed inventory of Dr Walker's books sold upon his death, and a notebook containing a documents index and two copies of a pair of Catholic pastoral letters on the funerals of two prominent men.
