Biographical History

Biographical History

Robert Jameson was Professor of Natural History at Edinburgh for fifty years. He looked after the University's Natural History Collection expanding its holdings immensely. He explored and published in geology, mineralogy, zoology and botany, particulary in Scotland. He also presided over the Wernerian Natural History Society and edited the Edinburgh Philosophical Journal.

  • lecture notes, c1806, on geological strata, veins, and colours
  • the Edinburgh natural history syllabus,1830
  • course notes from summer session, 1850
  • a small collection of papers concerning the medical school curriculum
  • a large sheaf of lecture notes, c1847.
