Scope and Content |
The File holds huge numbers of articles and fragments of articles, such as from the American Journal of Science and Arts and the Edinburgh New Philosophical Journal, with many colour plates, covering things as various as tortoises, nemalite, bird classification, burrowing marine animals, whale vertebrae, ancient beaches near Stirling, Arsenic poisoning, human secretions, and spelunking. There is an 1833 address to the British Association for the Advancement of Science. There are also soft-bound pieces on aneurism, proceedings of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, 1832-1833, fossil remains of birds, pulps and sacs of human teeth, and rattle-snakes in America. As well, there is a report by the army on what happens to Englishmen in the tropical sun. |
