Contents include an extract on the theory of the earth, by one 'Phillips,' sewn minutes of meetings of a society, notes of mineralogy and crystallography treatises consulted for some work, notes on animal fossils found in various strata, and their names, large extracts of M.L. Elie de Beaumont's and M. Adolphe Bronqniant's works on sedimentary formations, Mr Smith Barton's refutation of the geological novelty of America, observations on marine basalt in various places in Europe by M.J. Desnoyers, a treatise by a M. Dutrochet on the irritability of the sensitive plant, several anomymous tracts on geophysics, numerous printed plates in corrected proof stage, printed notes from 1833 on geological proofs for the chronology of Scripture, notes on Lyell, a copy of part of the Weekly Times, 16 January, 1881, and cut-out pages of a book, headed, 'Prof. Bischof on the Natural History of Volcanos and Earthquakes'. |
