Biographical History	Sir Archibald Geikie lectured at the Edinburgh Museum of Science and Art in 1868 and at the Royal Institution of Great Britain in London in 1869 on aspects of geology. His publications included the contribution of a chapter on geology to the Encyclopaedia Britannica, which was in preperation from 1876.
