Letter to Sir Archibald Geikie from H Arnold Bemrose congratulating him on his book The ancient volcanoes of Great Britain, (1897). He reports that he has not found any basalt rock while undertaking geological mapping in Derbyshire but has photographs and thin sections of bedded ash. He reports that his work is 3 months behind due to a knee injury but he is now recovered. He remarks that he is glad to see the Annual Report of the Geological Survey in print but laments that it is not given more funding or prominance.
