Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from William Henry Lang concerning the absence of James Montagu Frank Drummond on military duties and the status of staffing in his own department in the University of Manchester. He discusses the postponement of the meeting to decide whether or not to have a meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of Science and remarks that it looks doubtful that it will go ahead. He informs Bower that the stem of the fern Zygopteris had arrived and discusses who should cut it, Bower is doubtful that Lomax is the right person and Lang discusses the merits of having him do it. He also mentions that he had to referee John McLean Thompson's paper and found it disappointing.
