Letters relating to Abercrombie Anstruther Lawson include a letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from Lawson enclosing his account of the gameophytes of the ferns Tmesipteris and Psilotum (not attached) and asking Bower to submit it to the Royal Society of Edinburgh for publication. He remarks that he had followed Bower's suggestion to delay sending the paper until the joint paper by William Henry Lang and Robert Kidston had appeared but Lawson states he has waited 3 months and there has been no sign of the paper. He informs Bower that he had asked for leave from his post in order to enlist for military service but had been refused by the University of Sydney. Also includes a letter from WP Cullen to Lawson regarding his request for leave which was refused on the grounds that the training he was providing to medical students was a vital contribution to the war effort. Includes a third letter from A Forster to Lawson informing him that he had been elected an honorary member of the Pharmaceutical Society of New South Wales and asking him to signify in writing his acceptance of the election. |
