which outlines her credentials and achievements which was signed by Frederick
Ernest Weiss, Edward Albert Sharpey Schäfer and Sydney Howard Vines

- note to the Senate of the University of London from
Frederick Orpen Bower refusing to help them find a replacement for EN Miles
Thomas due to the unsatisfactory circumstances surrounding the vacancy (08 July 1916)
- letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from EN Miles Thomas
enclosing a printed statement of London botanists protesting against the
decision to refuse to reappoint her. She asks Bower if he would sign the paper
and strengthen her position. Note in Bower's hand states that he cannot sign as
he does not believe it is a matter for outsiders. Another note further outlines
his position and states that he thinks this might harm rather than help her

Blackman informing Bower that the London Botanists who signed the protest
against the refusal to reappoint EN Miles Thomas do not think that other
botanists should be discouraged from applying for the position or supporting

appointed a committee to consider and report on the "non-reappointment" of EN
Miles Thomas (19 July 1916)
- letter to the Senate of the University of London from
TL Prankerd and AJ Davey in which they reiterate their refusal to work unless
EN Miles Thomas is reappointed (22 July 1916)
