Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from James Montagu Frank Drummond in which he remarks that he hopes Bower was not shocked by the vulgarity of the divisional New Year's Card that he had sent. He tells Bower that he has the prospect of getting leave in January and if that happens, he will try to be demobilised under the army's guarantee offer scheme. He has enclosed a copy of the letter he sent to the Court of the University of Glasgow requesting a guarantee of their job offer to him. The other papers consist of a note of his service history and a copy of the army telegram explaining that soldiers who hold a guaranteed job offer from employers who employed them before the 4 August 1914 should be entitled to accept the position immediately unless they are needed by the army in some capacity. |
