Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from James Montagu Frank Drummond in which he apologises for forgetting to pay Bower the balance of the presentation money. He tells Bower that he had the cheque ready months ago but forgot to send it. He thanks Bower for the offer of accommodation but states that he shall return the same evening instead, he remarks that he is looking forward to addressing the botanical society again. He describes a visit he made to Denmark and Sweden as most interesting. He found the generous support the botanists receive from the government discomforting at first and remarks that he was cheered by the high amount of botanical staff in the botanical stations. He has formed a high opinion of the Scandinavians, especially the Danes who, he remarks, "in language and otherwise are by far the most English of the foriegn peoples I have met". |
