Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from Sir Arthur William Hill regarding the position of Assistant Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. He wishes to hear Bower's ideas on the matter and expresses his own opinions that the individual should have an interest in the systematic and economic aspects of botany and have a knowledge of the wider world, such as India or a tropical colony. He also wants someone 10-15 years younger than himself. John Mclean Thompson he considers to be the right sort of person, although he is not available. Hill goes on to say that his is not the final decision on the matter as the Ministry of Agriculture could over-rule him. |
