Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from Sir James Colquhoun Irvine regarding a vacant chair at Dundee. He asks Bower for full information on Dr [John Mclean] Thompson who he believes will be an asset to Dundee but states that the position is rather obscure, being previously for the summer term only. After the departure of Sir Patrick Geddes, it was proposed that the Chair should teach for the full year, with full salary but this has financial implications for the university. Although the University Council has still to authorise the filling of the vacancy, he hopes to have someone in place for the summer term. |
