Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from Edward C Jeffrey, conveying his interest in work done by Bower on the size factor in morphology, details of which had been circulated by the Royal Society. It relates to similar work Jeffrey has been doing on pines and he believes He feels they may not agree over the interpretation of size in the case of osmundacae ferns. He refers to John Mclean Thompson's memoirs in the Royal Society of Edinburgh publications and believes that opposition is important within science to allow logical development and eliminate errors in the long-term. He goes on to congratulate Bower on his selection as President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. |
