Scope and Content

Scope and Content

Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from Sir John Graham Kerr concerning Kerr's dispute with the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He assures Bower that has not shared the contents of his letter to the Council of the Royal Society of Edinburgh with anyone outside the Council. He sees the issue as a matter of principle in that a body such as the Royal Society of Edinburgh should not assist private attacks on an individual's scientific reputation. Such things should be dealt with in the open so that the individual may have the opportunity respond. The way things have occured lacks the principle of fair play.
