Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from John Yule Mackay regarding the financing of the Botany Chair at Dundee, with which the University of St Andrews is in some difficulty. If they advertised the post now they could not offer more than £600 and even that could place them in difficulty. Due to a previous deficit, the Council and Court are being cautious. If the additional half million promised to the universities by the Chancellor materialises, things will be fine. He states that they have not actively sought candidates since Sir Patrick Geddes' resignation. Those who approached them were only told what was hoped for. |
