Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from John McLuckie commenting on the influx of medical students into Bower's department and on the similar situation at the University of Sydney. He enjoys the work and finds them enthusiastic. He does wish there was an additional lecturer to allow him some time for research and is disappointed in [James] Small declining the offer. He informs Bower of the reconstruction of the Macleay Museum of which the School of Botany occupy about a third. At prersent their accomodation is quite cramped but he believes that by September this will have been resolved. He also talks of numbers of student taking various courses and of aspects of anatomy he will be pursuing with his advanced students. There is a wealth of botanical material available to him and he will be sending Bower some in the very near future. He passes on congratulations to John McLeanThompson on his doctorate and announces that he has become Chief Lecturer in Botany at the local Technical College alongside his university position. |
