Scope and Content |
Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from James Small explaining, as he already has to Francis Wall Oliver, that his salary at Queens University Belfast is equivalent to what he would recieve from the University of Sydney post and that he has good prospects. Removing himself to Australia would also force him to abandon the study he is undertaking as he would have no access to Kew and other centres which he needs. The recent arrival of a son has also been influential. The Australian position would have to offer something to outweigh these disadvantages he sees at present. He hopes Bower can explain this to Abercrombie Anstruther Lawson. |
