Letter to Frederick Orpen Bower from Miss M Smith who is compiling a list of Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker's memberships, honours and awards etc. She asks Bower for details of Hooker's 'Doctor's degree' from the University of Glasgow, which she thinks was in 1839. Sir David Prain has suggested to her that Bower will be able to provide the date and proper wording. The list will appear as an apendix to his Life, which should be published in the Autumn. Smith also asks about a prize- winning essay by Hooker,
