John Hunter Harvey Pirie inspecting a hydrangea hedge, watched by man holding onto a horse. Taken when a few of the expedition crew took a drive around the Faial Island accompanied by Captain Acuna, the British Consul. These hedges were on each side of the road and could be as tall as 10 feet. |
