Shags

After developing his photographs, William Speirs Bruce collected together those of a similar theme. With the exception of 1 picture which shows only a cape pigeon, this series shows photographs of blue-eyed shags taken either on the South Orkney Islands or the Falkland Islands. Cape pigeons and members of the crew sometimes appear alongside the shags.

Shags series consists of photographs of:

• a flying cape pigeon (1 stereo glass-plate negative)
• blue-eyed shags (6 stereo glass-plate negatives and 1 stereo glass-plate positive)
