Barr & Stroud maintained an extensive collection of glass plate negatives of images of items relating to their work. These include images of the many products they manufactured, such as radar equipment, rangefinders, binoculars, telescopes, periscopes, cameras and other optical instruments and and also components within them. As electronic technology developed, this is reflected in increasing numbers of images of electronic components. There are images of the ariel survey equipment (such as topographical stereoscopes and photonymographs). Other products such as cinematographical equipment for the Alliance Cinematograph Co, and the Beardmore Precision motor-cycle also feature. Images were also held of the company's premises, members of its workforce and its manufacturing equipment. In addition there were slides for lectures, local scenes and various other subjects relating directly and indirectly to their business. |
