The Full-time Engineering Cadetship course was an extension of the engineering cadetship courses which were in place during World War II to provide qualified engineers for the armed forces. Following the end of the war, it was felt that there was still a need to ensure that all branches of the army had an adequate supply of officers and the Secretary of State for Scotland invited educational establishments to take part in a scheme to extend the war time cadetships. |
