Correspondence with Universities of Belguim

This statement was issued by the rectors of the universities of Belgium to the backdrop of the Exposition Universelle et Internationale de Bruxelles in 1958. This was the first world exhibition to be held after World War II and the atmosphere was one of optimism and enthusiasm for new technologies. The exhibition attracted over 35 million visitors and 46 countries from all over the world were represented.

The Correspondence with Universities of Belguim series consists of:

• Message from the rectors of the universities of Belgium expressing their views on the dangers posed by the rapid scientific and technological progress that they believe can only be averted by an awareness of the unity of mankind. The correspondence also contains a reply from Heriot-Watt College expressing sympathy with their statement.
